The LHCb Experiment & the Search for New Physics
102 Cardwell Hall
October 16, 2017
4:30 p.m.

The LHCb experiment located at CERN looks for physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics by examining the weak decays of particles containing the heavy b and c quarks. How these decays are influenced by heavy as yet undiscovered particles that are carriers of new forces allows us to explore very high mass scale in our search for these objects. I will report on recent results and the discovery of new states: baryons formed from five quarks.
