Steps on the Road to Diversity -

The University of Kansas recently hosted one of twelve regional, simultaneous conferences for undergraduate women sponsored by the American Physical Society. According to the APS, the goal of CUWiP is "to help undergraduate women continue in physics by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional conference, information about graduate school and professions in physics, and access to other women in physics of all ages with whom they can share experiences, advice, and ideas." As a faculty member of the planning team, I will address the institutional priorities behind our decision to apply for a slot as a CUWiP site while Kristin Rennells will be able to address many of the logistical hurdles that we surmounted along the way. We are both very excited to share advice but, more importantly, to share how productive and successful this experience has been.
