Reception for Mr. Chester Peterson Held

The physics department arranged for a reception of Mr. Chester Peterson on December 14 in Cardwell 119. Mr. Peterson sponsors the Peterson Public Lecture Series in Physics.

A larger number of physics faculty and graduate students and Dr. Beth Motelone, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, were present for the reception.

The inaugural Peterson lecture will be delivered by Professor Lawrence Krauss of Case Western Reserve University on Monday, March 12, 2007. Professor Krauss is an internationally known theoretical physicist and a best selling author of books like 'The Physics of Star Trek'. For more details on his illustrious career see:

The Peterson lecture series will be instrumental in our attracting bright, young students to physics and also to educate the general public about breakthroughs in scientific ideas --- after all the general public through their election of senators and congressmen sets the amount of governmental funding for science.

Our faculty and students are grateful to Mr. Peterson for his generosity.
