Graduate Program

The Physics department offers a research-based program which culminate in a PhD or MS. Research ares in the department including atomic, molecular and optical physics; soft, condensed and biological matter physics; high energy physics; and physics education research. Prospective applicants are encouraged to view our faculty research interests to identify potential advisors.

PhD in Physics

The PhD program prepares students to be independent, rigorous and creative scientists in preparation for careers in research, teaching, industry and government. Most PhD students will graduate in X years and publish X-X papers.

MS in Physics

The MS program iprovides research training in physics. Some students use this as a step towards future doctoral training whereas others will use it to gain the skills needed for specific careers. Most Physics MS students graduate in X-X years and publish X-X papers.
