Scholarly boost: Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry awards spring grants to Physics Majors

Kansas State University's Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry has selected 17 students for research and travel grants for their undergraduate research in the spring semester.

The following Physics majors are among those awarded research grants:

• Ryan Luder, senior in Physics, Overland Park, received an Undergraduate Research Award and will work with research mentor Kristan Corwin, associate professor of physics.
• Margaret Lang, senior in physics, Olathe, received an Undergraduate Research Award and will work with research mentor Cydney Alexis, assistant professor of English.
• John Thompson, senior in physics, Salina, received an Undergraduate Research Award and will work with research mentor Eleanor Sayre, assistant professor of physics.

"Undergraduate Research Award grants provide funding for students to work under the guidance of a faculty research mentor," said Anita Cortez, director of the Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative Inquiry. "They get the opportunity to network with other researchers, make contributions to their research field, and present, perform or exhibit their work publicly."

The Office of Undergraduate Research & Creative inquiry is accepting applications for summer research and travel awards. The application deadline is Feb. 15.
