Former Postdoc Peter Kürpick Named Chief Platform Officer at HERE

HERE, a leading mobile mapping firm, announced the appointment of Peter Kürpick as its Chief Platform Officer.

Peter received his PhD in theoretical physics in the group of Prof. Burkhard Fricke at the University of Kassel in Germany. He also received a Masters in Environmental Sciences from the University of Kassel and later a Corporate MBA from INSEAD.

Following his PhD in Physics, Kürpick worked as a postdoc in Theoretical Physics with Prof. Uwe Thumm at Kansas State University from 1994-1997.

After leaving K-State, Peter worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and then entered the corporate world. He began his tenure at Software AG and SAP in Germany, where he was influential in the development of SAP NetWeaver, SAPs primary technology computing platform. He then joined Unify, a global communications software and services company as Executive Vice President of its Product House organization.

In his role, Kürpick will accelerate the HERE's push into the next generation of location-based services based on platform-enabled applications and solutions in areas such as autonomous driving, asset management and augmented reality.
