Khalil Named a Distinguished Researcher at Fermilab

Physics postdoc Sadia Khalil has been named a Distinguished Researcher of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) LHC Physics Center (LPC) at Fermilab for 2015. She receives this LPC fellowship for the second consecutive year.

The Distinguished Researcher program is a defining feature of the LPC. The 15 colleagues selected as CMS LPC DRs are accomplished individuals at different stages of their career. This program provides resources to help strengthen and expand their research programs. Funding for the program is made possible by the CMS Center at Fermilab, the USCMS Research Program, and a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Sadia will lead the physics group on the vector-like quark searches at CMS. Her interest is the vector-like quark searches in the single production channel with focus on bottom-like heavy quarks. In addition she will continue to contribute to searches with supersymmetry (SUSY) models with low missing transverse energy, such as R-parity SUSY and stealth SUSY in multi-lepton channel.

The LPC serves as a resource and physics analysis hub primarily for the 700 US physicists in the CMS collaboration. The LPC offers a vibrant community of CMS scientists from the US and overseas who play leading roles in analysis of data, in the definition and refinement of physics objects, in detector commissioning, and in the design and development of the detector upgrade. There is close and frequent collaboration with the Fermilab theory community.
