Searching for new physics with the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider

The discovery of the Higgs Boson at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) during Run 1 was a ground-breaking event in particle physics history. The LHC has recently concluded its Run 2 at an unprecedented center of mass energy of 13 TeV and the CMS experiment has successfully collected a very large dataset. The data collected is expected to better understand the nature of electroweak symmetry breaking and potentially discover new physics. In this talk, I will review recent results from the CMS experiment with special focus on searches for physics beyond the Standard Model.
