Novel accelerator-based and laser-based sources allow the generation of femtosecond and attosecond x-ray/XUV pulses. This has opened new perspectives to track in "real time" molecular processes in the natural time scale of electron and nuclei motion. Motivated by these perspectives, we are developing a suitable theoretical approach for molecules based on solving the time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE). The developed TDSE is quite flexible and allows us to describe a wide range of physical scenarios, accounting for both inner-shell dynamics and strong-field interactions. Here I discuss recent and future applications of our TDSE on time-resolved photoemission and Coulomb explosion experiments, x-ray/XUV transient absorption spectroscopy, high-harmonic spectroscopy for charge migration, and coherent control schemes involving core electrons.
