Abstract
This presentation focuses on the career path of medical physics with an emphasis on the professional and research considerations within the field. Included are aspects defining the work scope of a medical physicist and professional aspects such as the demographics and compensation. Additionally, short overviews of research projects currently being pursued by several OUHSC medical physicists will be highlighted. Finally, a more focused presentation is included on how Dual-Source Dual-Energy CT can be integrated into the radiation therapy workflow.
Post-Talk Session: Pathways into Medical Physics
Following the presentation, an interactive discussion will focus on specific avenues for entering the field of medical physics. Information will be provided on applying to the OUHSC graduate program and navigating postgraduate residency requirements. Students and all interested parties are welcome to attend.
About the Speaker
Bradie Frizzell earned a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Kansas State University in May 2022. Following graduation, she spent two years as a research assistant at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where her work focused on Hyperpolarized Xenon MRI. She then completed an M.S. in Medical Physics at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC), conducting thesis research on Dual-Source Dual-Energy CT and its potential integration into radiation therapy workflows. Bradie is currently a first-year diagnostic medical physics resident at OUHSC, where her responsibilities include annual equipment testing, radiation shielding design, clinical and educational training, and assisting with machine QC instruction for graduate students.
