The Physics department at MIT has been using the flipped classroom for its large introductory physics courses for over a decade now and have demonstrated a positive impact on student learning. Professor John Belcher has been the driving force behind this project, and he will be sharing with us his experiences in transitioning to an active classroom. He will also share with us his recent experiences in creating an online MOOC in physics using the edX platform, with 30,000 students initially registered. If you would like to find out more about either project at MIT, visit web.mit.edu/edtech/casestudies/teal.html or web.mit.edu/fnl/volume/261/belcher.html.
