About Me
Who Am I?
I am Samuel John Fahrenholtz. I grew up Goddard, KS which is a suburb of Wichita. After graduating from Goddard HS, my parents moved to Tribune. Tribune is a small Western Kansas town, an hour's drive south of Goodland. The rural town of Tribune was very different from Wichita and provided some new experiences, like working on a farm. Come Fall, I started physics at Kansas State.
I first was interested in physics when I learned what nuclear fusion was, sometime during my seventh grade. This was before I knew what physics was, though. I decided to do it anyway just because I wanted to find some science career that would help people. Now, I'm still interested in nuclear fusion, but also I've enjoyed my atomic physics research experiences at K-State and I think medical physics is amazing. I still have a while before I need to make some sort of graduate school decision.
What do I do?
Well, the things I enjoy doing are music performance, watching football, and playing video games.
During this summer, I've spent my time working on this, do things with the REU folks, going to the Rec, and going to a couple Bible studies.
During the semester, I spend plenty of time at FarmHouse Fraternity (I live
there). I pledged my sophomore, and it's been a tremendous blessing
because it gives me people I enjoy; I don't even have to make plans which has
been good for my time consuming physics major.
We
enjoy a community that I cherish--it takes a lot effort though. It's not
always fun games in a 62-man house of mostly 18-20 year olds. The effort
pays off especially when you see growth in yourself and others.
This a picture of a bunch of FarmHouse men at the basketball season pep rally. It says 'Welcome to Huggieville!' because that season, Huggins was our coach and Aggieville is the main bar scene in Manhattan. Huggins arrived in fame and we had one good season. Then he decided to coach his alma mater instead; consequently, he left infamous.
