Spinner
Having a spinner in the lab is of interest because it could be used to coat optics with different carbon nanotube (CNT) polymer composites. This would allow a method to test different CNT saturable absorbers (SA).
The spinner was made out of a CPU fan. The fan had a 4-pin input which took some time to decipher. The 4-pin system has an output reading but I found it difficult to make sense of the output on a counter… Instead, I used a stroboscope to measure the speed of the fan as a function of input voltage. So, now we can use a varying voltage supply to get different speeds!
