Robert (Bob) Dale Geering, 68, of Wamego, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at
Wamego City Hospital in Wamego after a fall.
Robert was born on September 9, 1941 to Theodore and Goldie (Turner) Geering in
Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated high school in 1960 from Salina High School
in Salina, Kansas. He was a cook in the Kansas National Guard for more than 7
years. Bob worked for Brunswick Bowling as a sander and Play Mor Lanes as a
bowling alley lane builder.
Bob married Judy Dee (Sigle) Geering on March 15, 1980 in Newton, Kansas.
They have been residents of Wamego for the last 28 years.
Bob worked in the Physics Department at Kansas State University as a machinist
for 23 years. He retired in 2004. He enjoyed his retirement spending time in
Wamego and Sylvan Grove. He especially enjoyed his time fishing at Wilson Lake,
tinkering in his workshop and, most of all, being with family.
He was a loyal husband, father, PaPa and friend. Bob could be found many
times doing random acts of kindness for friends and family. He was also gifted
at teaching people how to do different tasks - how to make gravy, repair a small
engine or teaching his granddaughter how to do puzzles.
Survivors include his wife, Judy; one son, Justin Geering, and his wife,
Michelle, of Manhattan; two brothers, Charles Geering, of Salina, and Don
Geering, and his wife, Judy, of Broomfield, Colo., two granddaughters, Abbie and
Audrey Geering of Manhattan and other dear family members and friends. He
was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda (Frederking) Geering and his
parents.
A memorial service was held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at
Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. The family received friends from 6:00
p.m. until service time. A memorial service was also held in Sylvan Grove,
Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on December 19 at Sylvan United Presbyterian Church.
