Obituary Information for Keith (Buddy) More

Keith More, 79, of Ann Arbor, Mich., died Monday, Dec. 7, at the University of Michigan Hospital with his family at his bedside.

Keith was born Oct. 10, 1930, in Junction City. His parents, Roy and Margaret More, preceded him in death. He received his master's degree in physics from Kansas State University in 1953. He attended the University of Michigan and made Ann Arbor his home. He married Patricia K. Norton in 1957 who preceded him in death in 1988. Keith married Flora A. Nixon in 1989.

He was employed by the Bendix Aerospace Systems Division until 1982. He was manager of the nuclear department, Bendix chief scientist for the Apollo Lunar Science Experiment Program, manager for the Mars Life Detection Experiment and manager of the space physics department. The Bendix projects he was most proud of were the development of the lunar science instruments for the Apollo Mission and for the Mars Viking Mission. In 1982, he joined Daedalus as manager for R&D sales. He retired from Daedalus (now SynSyTech) in 1999.

He was a member of the U of M chapter of Sigma Xi and the U of M Science Research Club. Keith enjoyed sailing, traveling and bridge. He sailed extensively over the Great Lakes and occasionally in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Pacific waters. His travels included most of the world continents. He was active in several duplicate bridge groups in Ann Arbor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Flora, three sons; Roy (Claudia), Jeffrey (Sarah) both of Ann Arbor, Tod of Dexter, Mich., two stepsons; Jon (Pam) Betzoldt of Tecumseh, Mich., and Jeffrey Betzoldt of Lexington, Ky., and one stepdaughter, Julie (Scott) Von Eschen, of Boulder Colo., 10 grandsons and two granddaughters and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his two sisters, Joan (John) Gorman of Junction City and Marilyn (Robert) Smith of Glen Ellen, Calif., and brother, Bob More, of Junction City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at the First Presbyterian Church, 1432 Washtenaw Ave. followed by a luncheon at the Ann Arbor City Club, 1830 Washtenaw Ave. He will be buried at Bethlehem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, he requested that donations be made to the American Heart Association or to the Boy Scouts of America.
