Marilyn Legg, wife of former Physics Department Head Jim Legg, died on May 18, 2009 in Port Townsend, Washington.
On April 21, 1973, she wed James C. Legg in Manhattan, Kansas. She had one
previous marriage, the Robert Fletcher, whom she married in 1963.
Marilyn earned a bachelor's degree from South Dakota State University, and a
master's degree and a doctorate from Kansas State University.
Her career included teaching math and working as an instructor at Kansas State
University's Center for Aging. Her last position before her retirement was as a
long-term-care coordinator for the Agency on Aging in the north-central Flint
Hills area of Kansas.
She loved flowers and had a particular interest in community service,
volunteering as a tax aide and in emergency preparedness. She was a member of
the Methodist Church.
Surviving her are husband James Legg; sons Robert Legg (Teresa), Ted Legg, Tom
Legg (Eva Chow) and Michael Fletcher; daughter Tami Jones (David); mother
Dorothy Gilliland; brother Alan Gilliland (Evelyn); sisters Gail Ryan (John) and
Jean Gilliland; and four grandchildren.
