REVIEW QUESTIONS OF Home Work 15

R21.3. A high pitch musical note has a higher frequency than a low pitched musical note.

EXCERISES OF Home Work 15

E21.7. If a vibrating spring is made shorter then the wavelength is also shorter. Hence, the frequency = speed/wavelength (and the pitch) is increased.

E21.8. From the diagram 90cm = 1.5wavelengths, therefore,
wavelength = 90/1.5 = 60cm.

E21.18. Pitch = frequency and, also, frequency = velocity/wavelength. The diagram on the left, which has the smallest wavelength, has the highest frequency and therefore the highest pitch.
