First Results from the CMS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider
After a previous run at lower energies, the first 7 TeV proton-proton collisions produced by the Large Hadron Collider have been recorded by the CMS experiment in 2010. These are the highest energy proton collisions ever produced in the laboratory and are the starting point for a new era of exploration. We are finalizing the commissioning of the CMS detector with this early data and discuss the performance of the experiment and the first physics results.
