RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION

THEORETICAL ATOMIC, MOLECULAR, AND OPTICAL PHYSICS

KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research associate position in theoretical atomic, optical, and surface physics beginning in Spring 2005. The selected candidate is expected to vigorously participate in ongoing and emerging research projects, including the interaction of atoms, ions, and intense, ultra-fast laser pulses with molecules, surfaces, and nano structures, using state-of-the-art methods in computational quantum dynamics. Applicants should have a strong background in theoretical atomic or surface physics, large-scale computing, or ultra-fast quantum dynamics. The initial appointment is for one year, but renewable for a second and possibly third year. The KSU physics department and associated J.R. Macdonald Laboratory have a strong AMO physics program that targets new and exciting frontiers in ion- and laser-interactions with matter and was recently ranked as one of the top 15 in the US. Send your letter of application, curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be send to: Prof. Uwe Thumm, Department of Physics, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506-2601. Screening of applications will begin immediately and continue until this position is filled. Kansas State University is an affirmative action equal opportunity employer and actively seeks diversity among its employees.
