Developing Expertise in Physics - Solving the Problem
Expertise in physics is more than knowing the laws and principles of physics – it’s also doing the things that physicists do. In the most general terms, this means solving physics problems. I will discuss problem-solving in terms of helping students develop the skills and habits of professional physicists. I will focus on students’ views about physics, representational fluency, and moving students from thinking about well-structured textbook problems to ill-structured problems.
