Assessment of Undergraduate Physics Program AY2020-21

Assessment Conclusions

AY20-21 has been a year completely defined by the coronavirus pandemic and the switch to online learning. The courses taken by our undergraduate majors have been in that environment from start to finish without the abrupt transition, and this environment has been challenging both for instructional staff and for students alike. We can see in most of our metrics that proficiency with the material is quantifiably depressed as is the case anecdotally and among higher education nationwide. With the return to in person teaching for AY21-22, we are eager to see what the future brings and how quickly our students will recover, and we are cautious to see what lingering effects will follow through as the covid students progress through the program.
